Montague Summers: British author and clergyman
born 1880 died 1948
Pen Name: Reverend Alphonsus Joseph-Mary Augustus Montague Summers
Summers was a Catholic clergyman, but looked at the religion from a different perspective than others. He was fascinated by the occult and seemingly believed it's key players to be real and valid threats.
First let's take a step back and examine what the word "occult" really means. Occult is from the latin for occultus meaning hidden or secret. So the term is used to refer to knowledge of the paranormal or a hidden knowledge. It refers to things that can't be measured by science and are therefore dismissed by many as not existing. Others believe that there is more out there that extends beyond pure reason or the physical sciences.
Summers is the author of three different anthologies of the occult. These are sure to thrill your inner goth.
